Grinding his teeth, Paulie struggled to ignore the exaggerated sashaying of Califa's hips as she walked past him.
It was shameful that not only would a woman continue to wear such indecent attire after painstakingly being explained why it was inappropriate. It was even worse to flaunt it. She had even worn a more provocative outfit than usual.
Looking up upon hearing the door open, he caught Califa's eye, who smiled sweetly at him before, to Paulie's horror, she began to lean over the bottom drawer of the file cabinet.
Throwing down the report on the progress of Dock 1, Paulie stormed out, kicking the door open and narrowly missing Kaku.
“Hello Paulie. Everything fine?” Kaku said after a long pause.
Launching into a long, overdramatic rant over how the world was going to hell in a hand basket because of miniskirts, pushup bras, and midriff shirts, Paulie didn’t even notice people were stopping to stare until Kaku gently cut him off, reminding him to stop by dock three to check on the difficult rigging job they had before them.
Turning and narrowing his eyes at the throng of people standing in front of him, Paulie continued his brisk, angry walk until an obnoxiously cheerful voice called out, “Having a bad day?”
“Shove it pigeon man,” came the venomous reply.
Not a shred of emotion showed on Lucci’s face, even as Hattori chirped, “You should find a way to channel that anger,” before Lucci slipped back into the crowd of morning passersby.
Reaching the dock three warehouse, he was surprised to find it empty. Hearing footsteps, he looked up to see Lucci, minus Hattori, standing behind him with a predatory smirk radiating off his face.
Setting down his bag, Paulie couldn’t help but wonder if this was all Kaku’s doing.
